Focals!

I actually made beads yesterday!! It's only been a week, but it seemed like longer :)

I took a pic with the bead in my hand, so you can judge the size:

Since I've been home...

I've completed this neckpiece:

And started this fringe bracelet:

The floor in the studio is ready to paint---but what color? I've given myself until Sunday to make a decision.

Show Pics

The show in Des Moines was too much fun! Lots of cool people buying beads & lots of friends I haven't seen since last year. Thanks to all that made it out! And for those of you that couldn't make it, here's a couple of shots of my space:
The "girls", all decked out in lovely felted & beaded lariats. And of course, the pretty bowl of embellished felted beads!

Tray upon tray of glass beads along with a nice pile of sets. I sold almost all of my felted & lampwork bead sets. Guess I'd better get on making more before the Omaha show, huh? And in the corner, you can just get a glimpse of the tray of fabric bracelets. They were fondled lots on Saturday :)

More cuffs are in the works--they'll be ready for the trip to Des Moines by tonight!

And more fabric for more cuffs:
Just because I love it so :)

Lentils!

I've been on a little bit of a lentil kick:

These and many, many more cool beads will be at the Living History Farm in Des Moines, Iowa this weekend! Won't you come out to see them?

Packaging

Part of getting ready for a show is packaging some of the beads I've been making:
These are the "Ring-A-Ding" sets, priced at $9.00 for the set of three. You get the cool hang card for free :)
And figuring out what to bring:

I have three totes full of display things that I rotate around depending on my mood--I drag them all out to decide which things want to play this month :) My studio is usually a big mess the week before a show!

Ayden

Ayden sure does like to get Grandma up early:

And play outside when it's warm:

He's a year and a half old now!

Meet "Fatima"

My artistic goal for this year is to explore many techniques in Art Doll making. This little family of pretties will be on exhibit at my shows and of course be posted here :) This is the first:

"Fatima"She's freestanding and tiny (for me, anyway), coming in at only 4" in height. I had a blast making her, and am already starting on some friends for her :) My first show is in Des Moines, at the Living History Farm on the 21st of this month. Come on out and meet 'Fatima" in person!

Working....

Excuse the crappy pictures, but work is being done---here's the proof! Trim is going up: And messes are being made:

Working in the studio this weekend. We're almost finished with the trim, then I get to paint the floor and anything else the will stand still long enough! Then, finally, I can begin moving things out there. That will be nice, since my current basement studio is quite a mess from packing and trying to organize things!

More Felt Fun!

I didn't actually felt this huge ball, it's a purchase on from Artgirlz. It's super-fine none the less. I did embroider it and add some seed beads for texture:
I purchased a tutorial from an artist on Etsy for the embroidry part of the bead--but I don't recommend that. You can Google for all the info that I got, only you can get it free. Go ahead--try it!
I have to say--I do love a little project that I can do while Ayden is awake and playing :)

New Hobby

I know, I need another hobby like I need another husband! But I had to try this out and it so fits in with my fiber thing I'm into this year. Here is the first piece, getting taken off my handmade 2 inch square loom:
The yarn is made from vintage Sari's--it's yummy!
Then I had to dust off my bead loom to see how it would work:

This piece is much larger, and will probably be incorporated into a mixed-media art quilt, whenever I get around to dabbling in that, I mean :)
