A new series I've been working on:

"Lava Lamps"

These remind me a the '60's lava lamps, with big bubbles swimming in a sea of color, contained with a nice magnifying layer of crystal clear. There's about 18-20 beads in each set of petite beads--the entire strand measure about 7 inches long.

I'm back!

Everyone have a nice holiday? We visited with lots of family and of course ate lots of food!

I rediscovered a pair of chrome chairs under a layer of dust in my laundry room--I decided instead of taking them to the dump, I would cover them and use them in my studio. So about an hour or two and 1-1/2 yards of Amy Butler's Daisy Chain fabric later, I have these:
Cute, huh? I like them, anyway! Now you can have a seat when you come visit me in my studio! Assuming it ever gets finished, I mean :)

I'm taking a little break (on purpose this time :)) to enjoy the holidays. Meet me back here in a week or so for lots of pics of new beads for the spring & summer, and hopefully the completion of my studio! I am so ready to get moved out there!!!!

Still Here!

I know, I know--where have I been? Busy making last-minute holiday gifts. And torching a bit, of course :)

I'll be around more in January--getting ready for my shows with new beads like these:
And a few others I'll keep under wraps. Don't want to ruin the surprise & fun of shopping at my booth this spring & summer!!!

I spent part of Ayden's naptime making this necklace for myself:
No lampwork (imagine it!). Nothing fancy. Just a few of my favorite things--seed beads, pearls, abalone shell and a vintage little bird from one of my mother's necklaces. It also doubles as a bracelet if I'm in the mood. Ayden thinks it's "pretty!" and would like to have it for himself---to chew on, of course :)

Even though the studio is a long way from being finished, I've decided to start organizing and packing up some of my treasures--like my button jar with a gifted bird resting on top:
Or this jar of glass shells:
Don't you just love a great jar?

I know I've been missing a lot lately, but that's the way it goes around here for the holidays--I'll get back into the groove after Christmas, I promise! I've been busy, but not with making beads :) Still making gifts--starting with this pile of zipper pouches, complete with lampwork bead pulls for the zippers! Perfect for all the misc. stuff that collects at the bottom of your purse.

My friend Dee made this fabulous "cha-cha" bracelet using some of my beads:
Gorgeous, yes? I love that copper wire!! You can find more of her creations here:

Well, it was a busy weekend hanging ceiling boards--here's a peek at it in it's raw form:

Lovely, yes? Can't wait until it's all up and I can stain it a beautiful honey color with a light coat of poly.

On another note, these were listed on Etsy today:
This little set would make a beautiful pendant & earrings combo!

Now that my shows are finished for this year, I have turned my creative efforts towards gifts for the holidays. This week I have already completed three crochet scarves and finally finished an afghan that has been half done for at least a year now :) Soon I will be dusting off my Bernina sewing machine and cranking out stuffed toys for the boys and handbags for the girls.

There's new beads on Etsy if you're feeling the bug to make holiday gifts!! A handmade bracelet or earrings is always appreciated. These were listed today:

More progress is being made to get ready for the M.O.N.A. show this weekend! What are you looking at? This is an entire tray filled to the brim with bracelets and coordinating earrings. Three bracelets and three or four pairs of earrings for each color palette--all different, of course :) I do have some extra beads--so be looking for those on Etsy soon--maybe before I go this weekend if I get the time.

I finally finished this lariat!
I'm so happy it's off my table and ready to go to Kearney next weekend! It turned out quite lovely, but not the way I had thought it would go. I planned for this larait to be more in the bronze family, bringing out the color of the center beads, but it wanted to be more blues/yellows, bringing out the colors in the side beads. That seems to happen to me a lot--but when the piece calls out for a certain bead, I must go with it!

Thursday, October 23, 2008

What have I been up to? Just trying to get ready for my next show! Here's a nice pile of of my "Tie One On" necklaces in a rainbow of colors ready to be carded up for the M.O.N.A. show on November 1st:

A little family of large lentils:

Ayden, 16 months old:

And finally, Mason, 4 months old:

Hope to see lots of you at the Lincoln Bead Bazaar this Saturday!!!!

More studio pics! I'm almost finished painting:

Installing electricity sure does make a mess of the yard! But I now have power:

And check out this cool cabinet for the studio I got at a garage sale this weekend:
I'ts going to be fantastic for my glass stash!

Yes, someday I'll have some bead pics for you :)

More progress was made on the studio while I was in Iowa this weekend--
I know, it looks like it has the Chicken Pox, but really we're just getting it ready to paint :) Can't wait until I get the outside done so I can start sprucing up the landscaping!

A quick shot of the inside:
I don't think I'll need lights at all during the day--it's so bright and light with all the windows!

Friday, September 26, 2008

Making some progress on the studio:
I know it doesn't look like much now, but wait a few more days (or weeks)--it's going to be fabulous!

New lentils with loads of color and texture:

These will make their first public appearance in Marshalltown, IA on Saturday!! Come out to see me, why don't you?

Tuesday, September 23, 2008

Bracelet made on nylon cording with seed beads and skulls--perfect for this Halloween:
Can you believe that cool skull button found at my local Jo-Ann's? My daughter already tried to steal the bracelet, so we're going to share it. I imagine that she'll "borrow" it, and I'll never see it again!

Matching earrings too, of course:

Well, the concrete is in! Next week, my studio starts going up--very exciting! Here's the guys, hard at work:

Thursday, September 18, 2008

Well, I finished the third in my series of lariats! This one is lovely in greens, steel blues and gray. It also has the added luxury of lots of pearls woven in the rope, hence the name---

Monday, September 15, 2008

Well, my studio building has had it's first delay--it's all ready for the concrete, but since it rained all last week--no cement until this Saturday. Which means I get to call the contractor and delay building for a week, and call the electriction....well, you get the idea.

Anywho---more mini-sets in the shop if you're interested :)

Tuesday, September 09, 2008

Skulls & Bones in the shop if you'd like to make a necklace like Carole's in the Simply Beads October issue!I like these black ones:

Monday, September 08, 2008

Hard to believe it's been almost a week since my last entry! The studio is coming along nicely--ground has been leveled for the cement that will be here on Saturday. The actually building won't start until next week sometime.

But enough of that--you came here for the eye-candy, right? Here's a new style of "spiney" focals I've been working on:

And once again, Carole Rodgers has made up a beautiful piece with my beads and had it published:

You can find this one in the current "Simply Beads" magazine.
