What have I been up to?! Well, besides going to see the precious Ayden twice a day, I finished up another sample of the Cellini Spiral for my class this weekend--this one just has some short pieces mixed in with lampwork beads and chalk turquoise:

And I finished a lovely set of "Turtle Bay" beads that will be on Etsy later:
Can you make out the turtle?

For Altered Tuesday this week you get to see my first Beaded Journal Page--all finished for June!! The birdie has a vintage metal bead eye, a nice party hat honoring Ayden's birth this month, and all sorts of cool treasures in his pocket, including a glass frog, shells, a vintage bronze washer and watch parts:

I'll put some interfacing on the back for stability and then put it back-to-back with the next page (July's) in the book.

And for the Seed Beader's Group in Hastings--here's a picture of the Cellini Spiral that I'll be teaching the Saturday:

You'll need three sizes and colors of seed beads--delicas, 11's and 8's, or I used 11's, 8's & 6's in this example. Needle, thread & wax, too, of course!!

This is 157 frit (crushed glass) beads that I have made over the last two days. I'm going to keep making them this week until I'm either sick of them or run out of frit! Next week--spacers!! YEAH!!
Another Ayden picture--6 days old today!!
Pictures of bead-related items later on!!

New pictures of the baby today--a little blurry since I was taking the pic with one hand--Ayden has the other: He's off the respirater and on a C-pap machine now--hopefully for only a couple of days.

And on the way home for the hospital I spied a yard sale--look at the cute little shelf I got for $3.00! I decked it out with a glittered pennant and my button box and jars full of trinkets:

It might get a little more decoration, but I'll decide later!

Ayden Thomas, born 07-19-07, weighing in at 3 lbs, 7 oz:

Momma is out of the hospital and doing well, Ayden will be in Intensive Care for about a month.

Just a quick post to let you all know that my daughter has gone into premature labor today--so I'll be absent for a bit. Check back in a few days--and if you have any positive energy, please send it our way.

I'm back from Humbolt, Iowa--what a cute little town!! I loved the downtown area where the show was, and there was a nature walk by the river that my daughter and I went on the night before the show. What fun--it was like a mini-vacation!!

More progress on the new beaded art doll--here's another sneak-peek:

Thursday, June 14, 2007

Well, I finished setting up for the Artitudes show at Cambell's Nursery. Display after display of wonderful art if you're in town--go check it out! Now to get ready to go to Iowa tomorrow for my other show this weekend! I made lots of earrings today since I about sold out of them last show--here's one of my favorites from the day. Earthy lampwork beads paired with turquoise rounds, sterling beads & wires.

It's Altered Tuesday!! I started a journal last week--I got this far:

It still needs a few more layers on the cover before I'm happy with it--then comes the daunting task of filling up the many pages inside!!

And here is an update on my Beaded Journal Project:

A work in progress, as you can see from the thread hanging off of it! More to come.

And finally today--I'll give you a preview of my next beaded art doll--this one is sporting on of my newest clay faces, and that's it so far!

Monday, June 11, 2007

Today was Polymer Clay day--lots & lots of faces for dolls, pins, or whatever you can think of were made. I think I counted a little over 70!! They'll be for sale at my next few shows--until supplies last or I tire of making them!

Let me introduce you all to Twila, my beaded art doll. Many hours went into her creation!! She's not going to be the last--I think I've found a long lost passion--playing with dolls.

Have you clicked the Bead Journal Page link yet? You should--it's a fantastic challenge to bead one journal page a month for the next year--I'm involved, as well as 239 other beaders across the globe. Exciting!! Today I made my pages for the journal--cut and quilted 13 pages (one extra--just in case!) measuring 9" X 7 1/2". They're all ready for beading! I already have an idea for my first page--I'll let you know when I get it finished!
Some of you that know me well know that I have been obsessed with birds lately. I think it's due to the early-morning singing going on outside my window, or maybe it's the blogs I visit that are influencing me--everyone seems to be having the same love affair right now! I've have been trying to get a good (even passable!) bird shaped out of my glass rods--many bird-shaped blobs of glass have been dunked into the water, shattering the hot glass into shards. But I think I have finally got something that, on first glance, resembles a bird.
I love the way they look on this display--all nested up and ready to go to their new homes!!

Another bracelet, finished up this morning--this one has lovely faceted Labradorite stones. Labradorite stimulates the imagination and improves the memory. Maybe I should wear this one? LOL! The flash in these is really spectacular in person!

"Stormy Skies"

It's once again Altered Tuesday!! I found this little wire basket at our local 'junk" shop--I thought it needed something, so I made this paper flower. It's from a Sandra Evertson book called "Fanciful Paper Flowers" that I just got from Amazon. Love it!

I'm also posting a picture of my jar of ribbons, just because I think it looks adorable!

By far the most gorgeous bracelet I have made this week if I do say so myself! Hand sewn size 11 seed beads and fantastic pearls, this bracelet has a nice weight to it.
