A necklace & earring pair I just finished up--turquoise, sterling silver & my lampwork beads:

It's very tropical & summery--I'll be testing it out at the bead show tomorrow in Omaha--come out to say hi if you're in the area! It's at the Westside Community Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Oh--and there's new beads on Etsy, as well as a pair of freeform pearl earrings. Go click the link on the right!!

I got four beads in the kiln yesterday before I burned my finger! Poor BABY! Two more large donuts, and a couple of practice frogs--new style thanks to Moth and her tutorial on L.E.

Wednesday, March 28, 2007

To many ideas--so little time! Wouldn't this be lovely with a lampwork bead dangling in the center? Or on a smaller scale--a pair as earrings? Or as a toggle? Yummy!

A new donut bead--this baby is an inch and a half wide with a half inch hole. I'll be making more of these for my next few shows--I think I need to order more big-hole mandrels!!

Okay--one more post from me today then I'm done! I've been chatty today, yes? Anyway--this is the cab I was beading at the show last weekend--it's actually a slice of agate, but whatever! I just finished sewing the leather on the back & doing a little fringe on the top. As soon as I decide which way I want it to hang, I'll make a beaded rope for it, and maybe more fringe for the bottom. Can you see my reflection in the bottom left?

I want to talk a bit about the Pondo beading technique shown in the April/May edition of Beadwork Magazine. Page 74. I started the silver piece shown above with the suggested size 11 and size 15 seed beads. Those of you who do seed bead work know how tiny those beads are! After about an hour or work and only an inch or so long--I decided to switch to size 8's and 11's. That's the darker blue/silver piece. This works up a bit faster, but not much! I found the instructions hard to understand in the magazine, the pictures of the thread path are very confusing to say the least. My point being---if you want to make a lacy looking bracelet like this, I would suggest doing it with a netting technique. Basics for that stitch can be found on page 118 of the same magazine. It works up much faster--I could have gotten an entire netted bracelet finished in the time it took to make the two sample pieces above!
It's Altered Tuesday!! Today I really didn't "alter" anything so much--but I made these cute kitty tags for my sister! So Teresa--if you're reading this-- e-mail me your address! And before you say anything--yes, I know where my sister lives--I just don't know the street address!

The winner of the "Cowboy Up" tag from last week is-----drumroll, please--

Silastones!! Please e-mail me your address!

Saturday, March 24, 2007

Okay, so at the show today I was "demo-ing" how to do a fringe bracelet. Really, I was just working on a special order bracelet from last weekend's show! I did get it finished, though:
Tomorrow I'll be showing off how I bead around a cabachon. I have some on display and got asked about a million times how I do it. So I thought I'd just show & tell as I'm working. Should be fun!

Friday, March 23, 2007

Okay, so I have a show Saturday and Sunday in Lincoln at the Pershing Center! If you're in town--stop by to see all the goodies that are being displayed!! So I'll be quiet for the next couple of days--no new beads, no new jewelry. But hopefully lots of visitors at the booth! See you on Monday!

More of the dotty beads--same style different shape!

Thursday, March 22, 2007

More lampwork beads out of the kiln today--lots & lots of dots!

Sorry about the glare on the beads--they're so shiny it was hard to get a really good picture.

Wednesday, March 21, 2007

Lots of fresh-out-of-the-kiln beads for you today. Mostly production work--spacers, earring pairs, potato chip beads. Nothing really different so I thought you'd like to see what I get done in a day. Try this--put both your hands together, palms up. This batch of beads would fill your hands and spill over the sides. That's a LOT of beads!!

Aren't you glad you waited? Part II of Altered Tuesday! "Cowboy Up" is a cute little tag--made on matboard for extra strength--hang it up, put it on a gift--what would you do with it? Enter to win--all comments before next Altered Tuesday will be in the drawing!

It's Altered Tuesday! I finished the flower book from the last Altered Tuesday--it's going home with my daughter today. Some of the inside pages are altered as well, with some being blank for writing, drawing or whatever she wants to do with it! I also have another project in the works that will hopefully be done tonight! Stay tuned!

Hello, again!! I played around with a new (for me) bracelet on Friday while I was showing my friend how to do a new technique (for her). Here's the result!

Now, does anyone know where I can get daggers for less than an arm & a leg? This bracelet takes 100 of those little buggers!!

Kearney was a terrific show! Thanks to all of you that ventured out to see us! I sold lots & lots of beads and a few pieces of jewelry. Next weekend I'll be at the Gem & Mineral Show in Lincoln at the Pershing Center.

Thursday, March 15, 2007

I finished another neckpiece last night--this one has those big flowers in it from my last post. Can you see them? Also, some white petals and an entire strand of Serriated Black Onyx. This one is an eye-catcher, for sure!

Tuesday, March 06, 2007

It's Altered Tuesday! So I started altering this blank book, but as you can see it's nowhere near finished. Some of the pages have been started as well, but I have to wait until my order gets here from Stampin' Up to finish. Anyway--here's the work in progress!

And the winner of my "Think Pad" drawing is........

Moon! So little Miss Moon Stump--e-mail me your address and I'll send you that fabulous Pad O' Paper to jot down all your great beady ideas in, okay?

Monday, March 05, 2007

I finished my neckpiece! For some reason on my moniter the front three discs look really red--they're actually more of a brownish-red, but whatever. I have the next one all worked out in my head and beads for it in the kiln. Yes!

Also, today is the last day to leave me a comment and get in on the "Think Pad" giveaway!!

Saturday, March 03, 2007

I forgot to mention--it's Tanya's birthday today--pop in her blog and wish her a good one, would you? Link is on the right!

Hello, March! Came in like a lion in my part of the world!
Anyway----I've been making these big-holed beads for days! I only have 2 mandrels this size, so I can make 6 of them a day. It's going to take me a bit to get the dish filled up. But it will be done!
In other news--check out my website! It's finally been updated (I know--I'm slow--but my guy that fixes it up for me is super-cool & lightning-fast!)with my show schedule through October, new pics, links to my Etsy shop & whatnot. Have a look-see, won't you?
