Yesterday was "neutral" lampwork bead day, apparently! Lots of ivory, gray, black & brown beads were made. Here--check some of them out---

I actually made some beads yesterday! Yeah! Here's some of my favorites--

These are super-round, like marbles with holes:

These are more of the tiny beads:And these are some really pressed-thin beads:Tomorrow is the Mid-Nebraska Seed Beader's meeting in Hastings, so that's where I'll be!

Two more pins finished tonight, as well as the cards they'll go on for display! These have vintage buttons and vintage glass drop beads, and dragonfly charms. I'm having way too much fun making these!!
Altered Tuesday!

First, I covered a cardboard box that I had lying around in this retro-cool Partridge Family looking paper--I'm going to put all my favorite buttons in it, in case you hadn't guessed that!

Next, I played around with mixed-media lapel pins--this one has a vintage door knocker brad (from Paper Valise), cotton fabric, a pearl and a lampwork bead, some crystals and a hand stitched leather backing:

this one has cotton fabric, a lampwork disc, and some old watch parts (also from Paper Valise), hand stitched leather backing:

Now I just have to get some altered cards for the pins made!

A big "Thanks!" to all that came out to Beads & Botanicals to see me on Saturday--you Hastings people are the best! Now I'm off to read my book and think up some fantastic things to make for Altered Tuesday. I have some good ideas already---see you tomorrow!!

No pictures today--just a brief update to let you know that I'll be in Hastings, NE tomorrow at Beads & Botanicals from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Stop by and see me, won't you??

These beads will be made into a fabulous neckpiece sometime in the near future--stay tuned!!

Yesterday I came across the perfect display box for my earrings--and at 50% off, no less!

It's once again Altered Tuesday!! Today's project is earring cards--since I start with a cereal box, I guess you can consider that altering, right? (Cereal boxes are a wonderful source of thin cardboard, if you care. Please recycle!) These were papered, cut to ATC size, stamped and have Dymo-labeled words and a pop-tab tied to the top with a cute little piece of ribbon. Adorable, right? Just makes you want to buy a pair, doesn't it?

The Grand Island show was F-U-N! A big "Thanks" goes out to everyone who came out to see me! The weather was wonderful, wasn't it? I had a little time to sit in the front of the shop and bead with one of the owners--is there anything more enjoyable than sitting in a bead shop and working away on a project? Here's the bracelet I was working on--
I got the beads from my mom--they're from an old necklace of hers, which I immediately took apart, of course! Why have all those beautiful birds in one piece when I can make several for many people to enjoy? They're adorable, aren't they?

Bullseye Odd Lots. Bullseye--a company that makes my glass rods right here in the US. Odd Lots--glass rods that were made by "accident" or as an experiment. There is usually only one run, so get it while you can!! Yesterday I received my shipment of April's Odd Lots, ( is there anything more fun than getting a glass order?) so today I made lots of beads with my new colors!

Here's Moody Blue--wouldn't this be fantastic with some blue-lace agate and some nice, big, white pearls?

This is Clear over White--a nice, milky color that also looks great under another transparent glass:
This is Opaque Turquoise with Deep Blue Algae--it's yummy & sparkley:

This is the Clear over White covered with Blue-Green Algae--another totally yummy & sparkley color:

This is Mint Green (I'm so sad I only ordered half a pound!), paired with Blue Adventurine (loads of sparkle!):
And finally, Berry Tie-Dye over French Vanilla:

Okay, that's about it for my glass fun today! Tomorrow I'll be in Grand Island at Jo Bangles with all my beads and some fun bracelets--come see me if you're in the neighborhood, okay?

It's Altered Tuesday again! My friend from South Dakota gave me this wooden cigar box not too long ago---then a couple weeks later gifted me with a box of wallpaper samples--too cool! So I papered the box with a few sheets of the wallpaper, added some velvet ribbon and flowers. This will be a work in progress for quite some time--as treasures get added, bits of memorabilia are glued in place--so thanks, Tanya, I'll enjoy this little box for many years to come!

Bracelet sets---five lovely lentils each set---the perfect amount for a beautiful bracelet! Add some silver, crystals, maybe some gemstones and you're good to go! Want to see them in person? My next show is next Saturday, April 14, 2007, at Jo Bangles in Grand Island.

Friday, April 06, 2007

Wow! It's been a while, hasn't it? So to make up for the lack of eye-candy, I"ll give you a picture all the tiny beads I made yesterday:

And a few close-ups of my favorites:

Frog-back beads:

And finally, Key-Lime Pie:

All these beads are super-tiny! The Frog-back bead set measures only 3" for all 12 beads! Great for a more petite look bracelet or necklace.

More new beads on Etsy this weekend!

It's Altered Tuesday once again! Where does the time go? I didn't get much done today--but I did get the envelopes all decked out for the birthday swap I'm in at Lampwork Etc. It's not much, but it's something! Now I can get the beads ready to be shipped out---

Monday, April 02, 2007

What do you get from one tube of mixed seed beads, one tube of mixed accent beads and one set of lampwork beads?

One fringe bracelet with matching earrings:

One freeform bracelet with matching earrings:
And, I still have lots of beads left over for another project--but that's for another day! Never mind the lacking earwires--I need to place a big order for silver soon!
